The Bible is the greatest book ever written. As a result, it can be used as a manual for healing foods and a whole host of other subjects. Accordingly, in this article, we will look at some foods in the bible and their healing properties.

Where possible, we will also make a connection between these foods and diabetes, specifically, type 2. Furthermore, the purpose of this website is to help our readers to use lifestyle changes to conquer diabetes.

Therefore, I am grateful to God, that through research and His guidance, I am learning to use diet and a more active lifestyle to silence diabetes in my life.

We will be looking at 10 healing foods in the bible. They are:

Flax in the Bible

I am smiling a lot whilst writing about flax. The reason is that when I did my research, I did not see flax mentioned as a food. As a result, the option is mine to delete this section, but my job is to provide truthful information with the hope of helping others to fight diabetes.

I wrote about flax seeds before and I have used them for a long time. The decision was made to still write this section, especially since I will continue to make bread with flaxseed flour.

In the bible, flax (linen) is mentioned in garments. It was also used as burial cloth. If you see flax mentioned as one of the healing foods in the bible, please send me a note in the comments box seen below.

Biblical Herbs, Spices, and Garlic for Diabetes

I love using herbs and spices. I use a lot every day. Consequently, my kitchen boasts a lot of these delights. Be sure to read the biblical quotations below.

Bitter Herbs for Diabetes

They shall eat the flesh that night, roasted on the fire; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Coriander helps to lower blood sugar and so it is a great idea to incorporate this into our diet in whatever way we can.

Garlic, Cinnamon, Onions, Leeks, and More

We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.

We have first-hand information on how some of the above-mentioned healing foods in the Bible have helped us and continue to do so. Diabetes is not an exception.

So much has been said about vegetables. Yes, we could argue about this all year long. However, the result is that some people do better on mostly vegetables and others don’t. The truth is that we must listen to what our bodies are communicating.

Vegetables are a set of healing foods in the bible that continues to work super great for me. I said it before and I will remind you here. I do eat animal protein, but not a lot. This means that I have more days of plant-proteins than I do animal proteins. This just works for me.

My blood sugar and blood pressure are better for this lifestyle change. Now, that is me. You need to find out and stick to what works for you. Yes, it is that simple.

Olives and Olive Oil for Good Health – A Biblical Fact

There are a number of scriptures in the bible about olives and oil. The healing properties of olives and olive oil include, but is not limited to:

  • Promotes brain health

  • Promotes joint health

Eat your Nuts

Grapes, in comparison to other plants and fruits, have been mentioned a lot of times in the Bible. Not only do we hear about grapes, but also the products, mainly wine. We also hear about raisins and vinegar.

There are a number of good reasons to consume grapes. Listed below are just a few:

  • Grapes are super nutritious and are considered nutrient-dense with the vitamins she offers.
  • Helps to lower blood sugar.
  • Prevents chronic diseases, thanks to the anti-oxidants.
  • Offers protection against cancer.
  • Lowers blood pressure and so it is good for our hearts.
  • Reduces cholesterol.
  • Helps with keeping our eyes healthy.

This list could keep growing, but since you got the idea of where I am heading, we will stop. Yes, eat your grapes.

Healing Foods – Pomegranate

Here are some reasons to eat pomegranate, one of the many healing foods in the Bible:

  • It is anti-inflammatory
  • Pomegranate is anti-oxidant
  • It is also anti-obesity
  • It prevents tumor

Consequently, pomegranate has been used to treat insulin resistance, obesity, cancer, and intestinal inflammation.

Animal Proteins – Lamb

This animal protein was eaten at the Passover. It is the meat of a young sheep. In comparison to other meats, it contains less fat. Additionally, lamb is protein-rich, contains vitamins B6 and B12, niacin, and zinc. It also has other vital nutrients, and as a result, it is sometimes said to be the healthiest red meat that we can eat.
