Turmeric – Natural Remedy for Diabetes

 

I use turmeric in my kitchen a lot. I do so for a few reasons. The main one is that it is seen as a natural way to possibly reverse diabetes, or, at least to help me to control this lifestyle illness. I am also a lover of most things cooked with curry and since turmeric contains the substance used to make curry, then I am sure you can understand why I love to use this Indian spice at home.

Turmeric is popular in India because of the spice it contains – curcumin. It is said to:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Reduces diabetic complications
  • Prevents diabetic complications
  • Regulates blood sugar
  • Aid in digestion
  • Ease the discomforts associated with ulcerative colitis
  • Protect us against cancer

According to the review which was published in the Evidenced – Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, curcumin could:

  • help with insulin resistance
  • hyperglycemia
  • hyperlipidemia
  • organ failure
  • reduce/prevent diabetic complications

Please note that thus far curcumin is being used to effectively treat eye conditions associated with diabetes. It is also worth knowing that there is a cry for further research as it relates to turmeric and curcumin.

The biggest win for this century is that we are now embracing and proving that diabetes can be effectively controlled via lifestyle changes involving our diet and activity levels. Yes, we can significantly reduce our blood sugar levels and possibly stop taking our medication, if, and only if we maintain a certain lifestyle.

This lifestyle dictates that we lose weight, eat whole foods which are rich in fiber, reduce our carbohydrate intake, eat healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, olive and coconut oils, exercise and be happy, thereby reducing our stress level and sleeping for the required time.

 

Yes, becoming diabetic-free is that natural and doable.     I am a believer in natural remedies for modern day ailments, and it is
    fair to say that natural remedies should cure all modern day ailments.

    Ailments that were non-existent before the Industrial Revolution and the production line which increased production and therefore a whole litany of packaged products for consumption.

    I agree with referring to diabetes here as an ailment and not a disease because in most cases it is preventable. Also interesting to note this page is setting a good example by displaying images of foods you do not buy prepackaged.
